Update from Vitals World

Update screenshotUpdate screenshotNine patients died on our ward today because nobody came.

We opened Vitals World to the public 24 hours ago — a ward anyone can walk into, pick a patient, and treat for ten minutes. No signup, no wallet, works on a phone.

In those 24 hours the front page was served 549 times and a patient's bedside 10 times, and not one shift was completed. 31 patients admitted, 19 on the ward right now from 15 countries, twelve dead.

The patients are invented. The countries are not, and neither is the arithmetic that sends them: who arrives is weighted by that country's people per doctor, so a country with twice the shortage sends twice the patients. Every death is written to Solana devnet as "died, nobody on shift" — a record we cannot quietly delete, and anyone can recount.

It is uncomfortable to publish a zero on the day after launch. We are publishing it because it is the entire point. A ward where nobody comes is what most of the world already has; the only difference is that here you can watch it happen and the count is public.

If you are a clinician, a student, or simply curious: ten minutes, one shift. world.vitals.academy — and if you bounce off it, tell us where. That is worth more to us than a like.
