Update from Vitals World

Update screenshotWeek 4: when nobody comes

Our week-4 video is one patient's record. Mading Alier, 59, from South Sudan, is simulated. He was admitted on 22 September at 10:06 Bangkok time. Nobody took a shift, and the ward closed him at 20:07. Of the 325 patients who had died on the ward by 4 October, 321 carry only the ward's own closure on their record. South Sudan has 1 doctor for every 24,390 people (World Bank, 2022). The patients are simulated. The shortage is not.

What we built: a ward where anyone can take a shift, with no signup and no wallet. Every hand-over is written on Solana devnet, and its receipt is rebuilt from the bytes that were played. This morning's full walk (9 October, 08:47) found 464 of 464 shifts on the list rebuilding to the leaf the chain holds.

What we learned: the chain was not the hard part. The bedside is. Since 23 September: 1,006 front-page visits, 143 bedsides opened, 48 shifts taken, 22 handed over (read 9 October, 22:48).

Next: clinical review of our cases, which stay marked provisional until then, and getting strangers to the bed. Ten minutes, one patient.
